Well a couple of weeks ago my toshiba decided to give up the ghost and the screen internally failed, the screen has already been replaced once and it’s a few years old now, so I think it was time for upgrade, though I must say my dad actually bought me my new laptop! Out of the blue too. I was planning to save up for a new one once I found a job, but my dad asked me where my laptop was one weekend and I said the screens gone again, and then last week out of the blue decided just came out with “oh yeah son I’m buying you a new laptop” shock wasn’t the word. So thanks Dad!
Oh before I show you my brand new laptop, want to know what a Laptop on some form of hardware drug looks like? Here is the Toshiba, R.I.P:
The screen actually flashes more colours that the picture shows so I think it’s having a rave or something. Well really it does work just I have to use a external monitor to use the laptop so really it kind of removes the whole portability of a laptop if you have to carry a massive monitor around with you, which no one will do so yeah it’s broke R.I.P Toshiba I love you always. Now for my new laptop!
Like I said it’s a Compaq Presario CQ60 and it’s perfect! Here’s some of the main specs:
Screen size: 15.6 inches
Processor: AMD Sempron 2.1 GHz
Memory (RAM): 3 GB
Storage (hard drive): 160 GB SATA
Operating system: Windows Vista Home Basic
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
Built in Webcam
5-in-1 Card Reader
A really sweet setup, and although I’ve had trouble with nVidia products in the past, im quite happy with the performance of the graphics card and one of the first laptops I’ve had with a AMD processor instead of Intel, I actually prefer AMD over Intel so it was a winner really. Now for the best bit, some pictures!
A really smooth looking lid, it already has my DNA printed all over it because of the whole issues with products that are a dark black colour and it loves my fingerprints!
It’s a nice shape and the screen is very good as it’s TBC.
And here’s Vista! Despite what people still say and even with Windows 7 on the horizion I still love it!
And heres my desktop, keeping it very clean unlike my PC at the moment! And hey look there me on the sceen reflection!
I’ve had it for nearly a week and im loving it, though I am constantly dusting the lid and screen when one spec of dust appears on it like some unstable crack whore, because Compaq were so kind as to include one of those smooth cloths. The built in webcam is defiantly something that made me go towards the Compaq, from the range that was there it really was the one that stood out.
The one thing I hate about buying laptops from OEM’s is all of the trial stuff that gets loaded on, but suprisingly for once the trial stuff is actually very useful, it came with a 60 day trial of Office 2007 and also 60 days subscription of Norton Internet Security and I think after the 60 days are up I think I might just purchase a full license! I’ve been taking the great transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007 and it’s certain very different! And my perspective or Norton Internet Security has changed. In early years of using the 2005, 2006 and 2007 version I found it to be quite resourceful and often draining my CPU completly but it seems to be hooked up nicely on my Compaq so maybe when my AVG license expires this September I might go back to it on my Desktop PC too, Who knows.
So yeah thats my new laptop, I love it!
